Karen and Dick – Business owner
Karen and Dick have been together since 1995 and married in 2007. Karen, now 64, worked in the public sector for half of her working life, and was self-employed for the remainder. This meant that she had a mix of company pensions along with a small private pension.
Steve – Approaching retirement
Steve is a Director of an insurance business. He is married and together with his wife is a client of Advice Matters. Steve is keen on charity work and has recently completed a charity fundraising trek in Transylvania.
Alan and Karen – Approaching retirement
Alan and Karen got married in 1986 in the Langdale Valley, Lake District. They met at work in the hotel where Alan was the hotelier and Karen worked in sales. After the birth of their two daughters, they bought their first house in the Lake District.
Phil & Jane – Business owners
Phil and Jane are married to each other and have a strong personal connection to the Lake District and surrounding area. They have both been self-employed for over 25 years, starting a business as a partnership, then becoming Directors of Evolution Consulting (UK) Ltd, a firm specialising in leadership, management development and executive coaching.
Jeff – Business owner
Jeff is a Chartered Surveyor in his fifties, working as an investment adviser selling and buying commercial property for clients. He is married with two grown-up children.
